Giddy Acre Barn Holiday Let

With a beautiful view of the iron age Hill Fort of Hambledon Hill, Giddy Acre Barn was built in 2007 on the site of an old milking parlour; situated down a track on a six acre organic smallholding it is surrounded by an organic farm on the edge of Child Okeford. The owners, Tim and Kelly Evans, keep sheep and chickens and horses graze in the fields.

There is a wide choice of paths to walk from the house; up Hambledon and Hod Hills, along the River Stour as well as the rich network of footpaths in and around Child Okeford.

The recently opened Cycle Trailway between Sturminster Newton and Blandford can be accessed easily from the Barn and runs along the level track of a disused railway line; this makes it a great choice of cycle ride for all ages with a choice of cafes and pubs en route.

Child Okeford itself is well catered for with 2 pubs, a village shop as well as the neighbouring farm shop and cafe at Gold Hill Organic Farm which sells the owners own delicious vegetables picked each day as well as lots of other mainly locally sourced foods.

Dorset's famous Jurrasic Coast is forty minutes by car, Stourhead, Kingston Lacey and Longleat all within 30 mins drive, Shaftesbury and Blandord Forum are within 15 minutes by car and Sherborne and Salisbury within 45 minutes. The georgian City of Bath can also be reached in an hour. Although many come to explore these many guests find exploring the lanes, woods, paths and inns of Thomas Hardy's Blackmore Vale is why they return.

Giddy Acre Barn is great for a family holiday, but is also cosy for a couple.

"Many thanks for a magical week. This is definitely the best place I have ever rented. We wanted to come back in the summer but it's already booked. The idyllic spot."

Swinbank family

"Giddy Acre Barn was situated in a lovely scenic area. The barn itself was superb, the owners very helpful and friendly - we couldn't ask for anything better."
